The World Travel Journalism Organization (WTJO) has announced that the next edition of World Digital Solidarity Day will take place on the morning of June 6, as part of the 6th International Forum of Journalists and Tourism Leaders, which has already established itself as a key space for critical thinking and innovation in tourism communication.
The forum, organized in collaboration with the Dominican Association of Tourist Press (Adompretur), the Dominican Society of Digital Media (Sodomedi), the Candelaria (Colombia) City Hall, and the Tourism School of the Universidad Autónoma de Occidente, will be held in a hybrid format, with both in-person and online activities.
With the thematic focus “Mindful Connectivity: digital ethics and solidarity in contemporary tourism,” this edition seeks to deepen the reflection on the ethical use of technologies and the need to build a digital citizenship that is both empathetic and supportive, especially in environments related to tourism.
During the event, presentations, panels, and dialogue spaces will take place where journalists, academics, students, officials, and professionals from the sector will discuss the current challenges of tourism communication, the role of social media, and the impact of technology in creating more just, sustainable, and inclusive destinations.
In the days leading up to the event, WTJO will launch a digital campaign under the slogan #SigueConTuVida, aiming to raise awareness and combat digital harassment and hate speech on virtual platforms, promoting a culture of respect and online coexistence.
The 6th International Forum of Journalists and Tourism Leaders not only celebrates World Digital Solidarity Day but also reaffirms WTJO's commitment to tourism communication based on ethics, empathy, and digital responsibility, in a global context where connectivity has become inseparable from the experience of travel and life itself.
