Call for speakers now open for the 14.º Congreso Internacional de Periodistas y Profesionales del Turismo in Nariño, Colombia

The World Travel Journalism Organization, in partnership with the Asociación de Guías Profesionales AYLLU and Morada al Sur Red de Alojamientos Rurales de Nariño, officially opens the call for presentation proposals for the 14.º Congreso Internacional de Periodistas y Profesionales del Turismo, to be held on August 27, 2025, in Pasto, Nariño, Colombia.

Under the theme Diálogos Biosocioculturales para la Transformación, the event aims to bring together specialists, academics, travel journalists, tourism professionals, and community actors to reflect on and share experiences related to the current challenges of the sector, with a focus on sustainable development, responsible communication, and the integration of local knowledge.

Those interested in participating as speakers may submit proposals aligned with the following thematic areas:

1. Salvaguardia del Patrimonio Cultural en el Turismo: promoting destinations that highlight Nariño’s artisanal vocation.

2. Promoción Sostenible en Destinos de Naturaleza: balancing economic development, environmental protection, and community well-being.

3. Integración de Productos de la Economía Campesina, Familiar y Comunitaria a la Oferta Turística.

4. Promoción Turística Internacional Eficiente.

5. Entendiendo el Turismo Comunitario Urbano.

6. El Periodismo Turístico y la Estructura de la Noticia: creating high-quality content.

7. Innovación en la Comunicación: new ways of accessing tourism.

8. Democratización del Turismo y Accesibilidad en la Información Turística.

Submission requirements:

• Interested participants must send a title and summary of their proposal to miguelledhesma@gmail.com no later than July 16, 2025.

• Selected presentations will have a maximum duration of 15 minutes.

• Selected speakers must submit a presentation in a 10-slide format by July 30, 2025.

The 14.º Congreso Internacional de Periodistas y Profesionales del Turismo promises to be a space for knowledge exchange, visibility of local experiences, and global reflection on the present and future of sustainable, inclusive, and transformative tourism.
