In the heart of El Salvador, a hotel and gastronomic group has become a symbol of local cuisine with contemporary influences and authentic tourism experiences. This is Restaurante 1800 y Hoteles, now known as Casa 1800, which combines Salvadoran culinary tradition with a hospitality offering that spans several strategic locations in the country’s main tourist destinations.
What began as a small café with local roots has steadily evolved since its founding in 2016, when the first Casa 1800 opened as a boutique hostel with just a few rooms and breathtaking views of Lake Suchitlán. Six years later, the brand now includes four boutique hotels and four premium restaurants located in regions and destinations as diverse as Suchitoto, Los Naranjos, Concepción de Ataco along the Ruta de las Flores, and Cerro Verde, nestled between the Izalco and Santa Ana volcanoes.
One of the most emblematic elements of the project is its attention to cultural and aesthetic details that connect visitors with the country’s history and traditions. The presence of a rocking chair, repeated at each location as a symbol of pause, welcome, and reflection, has become an icon recognized by guests and widely shared on social media as part of the experience.
Casa 1800’s culinary offering is based on a menu with deep local roots, celebrating Salvadoran gastronomy with a creative and modern fusion. Ingredients such as loroco, Salvadoran coffee, corn, and native agricultural products are integrated into dishes that aim to preserve traditional techniques while presenting them through a contemporary lens. Among the house’s exclusive dishes is the iconic Plátanos Bolos, a creation that showcases the culinary boldness of the brand and highlights the essence of national flavors in a unique presentation.
The Casa 1800 menu not only stands out for the creativity of its exclusive dishes but also for reinterpreting Salvadoran classics and offering diverse gastronomic experiences for both locals and tourists. In some locations, unusual combinations such as the PuPizza, which merges the traditional pupusa with pizza ingredients and techniques, reflect the hybrid identity of modern Salvadoran cuisine, respecting its origins while exploring new flavor frontiers.
Casa 1800’s presence in the region goes beyond gastronomy. Its Cerro Verde location, situated within the Volcanoes National Park, offers visitors not only a hotel with twenty rooms and panoramic views but also direct contact with the country’s natural and volcanic landscape. This historic hotel dates back to 1958, when it was originally inaugurated to offer views of the Izalco volcano’s fumaroles, known for its intense activity that earned it the nickname Faro del Pacífico, as its flames and ash could be seen all the way to the ocean.
Casa 1800 has been recognized as a brand that drives gastronomic tourism in El Salvador by integrating identity, landscape, tradition, and creativity. In Ataco, for example, its new ancestral menu features specialties made using traditional techniques and ingredients that tell stories of Salvadoran territory and aim to provide both tourists and local diners with a deep and meaningful culinary experience.
With a philosophy that unites history, culture, landscape, and flavor, Restaurante 1800 y Hoteles has positioned itself as a benchmark of Salvadoran cuisine and hospitality, inviting visitors to discover the country through its table, its vistas, and its authentic spirit.
