Colombian designers to dress travel journalists at the 2025 Open Passport Award Gala

As part of the 2025 Open Passport Award Gala, the travel journalists participating in the full tour across Colombia will be dressed by renowned national fashion and jewelry designers. This initiative, led by the department of Nariño, aims to highlight Colombian cultural identity through design, blending ancestral traditions with contemporary aesthetics.

Among the designers taking part in this initiative are Francisco Sepúlveda (XZAE), Camilo Andrés Varona Guerrero (Makaco), Hernán Jojoa (Ecotema), Ximena Santander (Xúa), Flor Imbacuán (HajSú), Yaquelin Paz Hidalgo (Tejido Ancestral), Jesenia Chamorro (Geiko), María Camila Narváez (Mariaka), Nazly Erazo (Casa Iraca), Ricardo Salas (Mopa), the Costureras San Vicente, María Alejandra Delgado (Cian), Ibonne Carlosama (Kantu), Laura Celis (Hanti), Sonia Arellano (Cardania), Mario Andrés Rosero (Atelier), and Karen Chamorro Villareal (Amalba Joyería). They have been selected for their professional experience, artistic vision, and dedication to preserving Colombia’s textile heritage.

In recent years, Colombian design has emerged as a vibrant and diverse form of expression, capable of engaging both cultural roots and modern-day challenges. In particular, design from Nariño stands out for its use of artisanal techniques, symbolic weaving, and a deep connection to the land and its communities, giving it a unique character on both the national and international stage.

Through this collaboration, the event becomes not only a showcase for travel journalism, but also a platform to promote Colombian design — using fashion as a visual and emotional narrative of the rich cultural heritage of the host country.
