Fampress Uruguay: WTJO arrives in the country for the first time with congress and international Awards Ceremony

The World Travel Journalism Organization announced the upcoming Fampress  in Uruguay, marking its first official visit to the country. The gathering will bring together journalists and tourism professionals from different parts of the world to strengthen the international promotion of destinations.  


Activities will begin with the arrival of participants on March 13 and 14 in the department of Maldonado, one of the country’s main tourist hubs.

  

On March 15, the agenda will continue with the 19th International Congress of Journalists and Tourism Professionals in Punta del Este, consolidating this destination as a global meeting point for dialogue on tourism communication, innovation, and industry trends. 

 

As part of the program, international experts will participate, addressing topics related to tourism storytelling, the role of media, and the current challenges of the industry.


On March 18, activities will move to Colonia del Sacramento, where the 13th Open Passport Award will take place, one of the most important distinctions in tourism journalism. It recognizes communicators, institutions, and leaders who contribute to destination visibility and the development of responsible tourism.   


Later, the delegation will travel to Montevideo, where a surprise event will be held, followed by institutional visits and tours in the department of Canelones, strengthening cultural and professional exchange among participants.  


To conclude the program, the experience will continue in the eastern region of the country, in the department of Rocha, where a farewell dinner will be held along with an exchange of gifts, marking the end of this international agenda.

With this first presence in the country, the WTJO reinforces its commitment to regional integration and the international positioning of destinations, highlighting Uruguay as a new strategic stage on the global map of tourism and communication.
