The Museo del Carnaval de Negros y Blancos of Pasto, located in the capital of Nariño, is a place where the magic, tradition, and creativity of the people from Pasto remain alive 365 days a year.
This cultural space offers both local and international visitors the opportunity to relive the joy of the carnival, declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2009. Through its interactive exhibits, the museum presents the history, characters, floats, and symbolic richness of the most representative celebration in southern Colombia.
Among its highlights are exhibitions of masks and costumes, visual arts workshops, storytelling of myths and legends, as well as the chance to get close to the master artisans and sculptors who make the carnival possible with their monumental works.
More than just an exhibition space, the Museo del Carnaval is a place of gathering and collective memory, where Pasto’s cultural identity is reinforced, inviting the world to discover the ingenuity, diversity, and community strength that characterize this unique festivity.
