As part of the networking activities and wine experiences in northern Mexico, the World Travel Journalism Organization participated on April 29 in a wine tasting at Bodegas del Viento, one of the most representative winemaking projects in the southeastern region of Coahuila.
Located in the Sierra de Arteaga, approximately 40 minutes from Saltillo, this winery has established itself as a pioneer in high-altitude wine production in the state, thanks to its unique climatic conditions, with warm days and cool nights that favor the development of high-quality grapes.
During the visit, members of the WTJO toured the vineyards and learned about the production process that distinguishes this winery, from grape cultivation to the creation of its own labels. They later took part in a guided tasting where they sampled varieties such as Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot, grape types that are part of the identity of this family-run project, which began as an agricultural experiment in the late 1990s.
Bodegas del Viento is recognized for its focus on precision viticulture and for producing wines made exclusively from 100% estate-grown grapes, allowing full control over quality and an authentic expression of the Coahuila terroir. In addition to production, the site has become a tourist attraction offering tours, tastings, and gastronomic experiences in a natural mountain setting.
The participation of WTJO in this experience reinforces the relevance of wine tourism as a driver of regional development and as an opportunity to generate specialized content ahead of international events such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
These types of activities help highlight the potential of Coahuila as a diverse tourist destination, where wine, gastronomy, and nature converge to offer high-value experiences for both visitors and professionals in tourism and communication, as well as for those involved in travel journalism.
