Rethinking the Digital from Solidarity: the WTJO opens registration for its 17th International Congress in Colombia’s Coffee Region

The World Travel Journalism Organization  announced the opening of registration for its members to participate in the 17th International Congress of Travel Journalism, which this year will be held under the theme Rethinking the Digital through the strength of Solidarity. The event will take place from June 3 to 12 in Colombia’s Coffee Region, with activities in Palmira, Circasia, and Pereira, and with Ecohotel Santa Bárbara serving as the main venue.

This congress is part of the celebration of WTJO’s fifteen-year anniversary, a trajectory that has consolidated the organization as a reference space for critical thinking, professional training, and exchange among travel communicators from different countries. In this context, the proposal seeks to reflect on the role of digital media in contemporary tourism, emphasizing solidarity, human connection, ethics, and the real impact of communication on territories and communities.

Over the ten days of activities, participants will take part in training experiences, territorial tours, dialogue sessions, and content production, as well as networking spaces among journalists, content creators, and leaders from the tourism sector. The focus will be on rethinking digital narratives beyond the logic of fast consumption, promoting conscious, collaborative communication committed to today’s social and environmental challenges.

WTJO reported that communicators interested in participating must complete a registration form and submit their round-trip tickets to Cali International Airport. Arrival is scheduled for the morning or early hours of June 3, while departure should be on the night of June 12, in accordance with the general congress schedule. Accommodation, meals, and tours are included for participants.
