Tuluá consolidates its position as a benchmark in the WTJO Emerging Destinations Network

On June 4, 2026, the municipality of Tuluá will be officially included in the International Emerging Destinations Network. This recognition is the result of strategic management and the campaign “Feel proud, we live in Tuluá, an emerging tourism municipality,” an initiative that has successfully transformed the regional narrative toward a vision of development and competitiveness.

The World Travel Journalism Organization (WTJO), together with a delegation of 50 communicators from 20 countries, will arrive in the “Heart of the Valley” to formally present the Emerging Destination Seal.

More than an honorary title, this distinction serves as a global visibility platform, allowing Tuluá’s cultural, gastronomic, and natural wealth to be showcased in major media outlets around the world.

A joint effort for regional competitiveness

Journalist Samuel Palacio Bolívar, an WTJO journalist and promoter of this certification, highlighted that the municipality has unique potential to captivate today’s travelers: “Tuluá is a destination with a vibrant offering; we have everything needed to position ourselves in the international market,” Palacio stated.

He also emphasized the importance of high-impact infrastructure projects such as the Great Cross of Picacho and Lake Chillicote, initiatives promoted by Valle del Cauca Governor Dilian Francisca Toro in partnership with the local Mayor’s Office, which promise to become iconic attractions for religious and scenic tourism.

This achievement is the result of institutional synergy that includes the support of local business leaders and the management of Ever Villegas, Manager of the Central Region of the Valle del Cauca Governor’s Office, all of whom have embraced tourism as a driver of economic development.
