WTJO visits UDEM and strengthens academic ties ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup

The World Travel Journalism Organizationcarried out an institutional visit to the Universidad de Monterrey on April 29, as part of the activities leading up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the aim of gaining firsthand insight into its infrastructure, academic services, and capabilities as a strategic venue for international events.

During the tour of the campus located in San Pedro Garza García, academic authorities presented the institution’s main strengths, highlighting its educational spaces, sports facilities, and its focus on innovation and comprehensive education. The WTJO delegation was able to learn more about the tools the university has to contribute to the development of tourism, communication, and large-scale event management.

The visit took place in a key context, as Monterrey will be one of the host cities for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which positions universities such as UDEM as relevant actors in logistical, academic, and professional preparation for the sporting event.

WTJO representatives emphasized the importance of linking academia with tourism and specialized journalism, especially in the face of a global-scale event like the World Cup, which will generate high demand for content, media coverage, and quality tourism services.

This meeting strengthens the ties between both institutions and opens the door to future collaborations focused on training, research, and the promotion of responsible tourism, in an international scenario that will place Mexico at the center of global attention.
