The World Travel Journalism Organization (WTJO) will organize an international press trip in Campos do Jordão, Brazil, from November 23 to 30, 2026, as part of the 12th edition of Pasaporte Abierto. The program includes visits to nature parks, museums, restaurants, wineries, breweries, and cultural attractions, as well as an international forum dedicated to regenerative tourism and a gala evening honoring outstanding figures in tourism journalism.

Travel journalists from different countries will travel to Brazil for an experience combining local knowledge, cultural exchange, gastronomy, nature, and professional activities. Over eight days, Campos do Jordão and other towns in the region will serve as the setting for a program designed to introduce participants to a range of tourism, local production, and cultural experiences.

The trip will begin on November 23 with a transfer from Guarulhos International Airport to Aparecida. There, participants will visit Hotel Rainha and the National Basilica. The program will also include a press conference with a representative of the institution. The group will then continue to Campos do Jordão, where a welcome dinner will be held.

The program will also offer opportunities to discover local production. Journalists will visit Santa María Winery in São Bento do Sapucaí and Azeite Sabiá in Santo Antônio do Pinhal. These two establishments will provide an insight into the region’s production and gastronomic experiences.

One of the highlights will be the Gala Night of the 12th edition of Pasaporte Abierto, which will take place at Hotel Quebra-Noz. The ceremony will bring together representatives of international tourism journalism and present the awards for this edition.

The professional program will continue with a visit to Dreams House and the International Tourism Forum, which will focus on Regenerative Tourism. The event will take place at Centro Universitário Senac Campos do Jordão and will involve students from the institution, who will also be responsible for participant registration. The day will conclude with a cultural and gastronomic presentation organized by students enrolled in the institution’s gastronomy technology program.

Nature will play a prominent role throughout the trip. Journalists will visit Bambuí Park, Tarundu Park, Amantikir Park, Horto Florestal State Park, Rancho Santo Antônio, Prana Park, and Bosque do Silêncio. They will also explore Ducha de Prata and Capivari Park, where activities such as a cable car ride, sledding, and Christmas celebrations will be available.

The experience will also include adventure activities, tastings, and opportunities to meet local businesses. The itinerary features a tree-climbing activity at Rancho Santo Antônio, as well as visits to Campos do Jordão, Caras de Malte, Vemaguet, and Luss breweries, and the Cachaçaria Danguá distillery. Regional cuisine will be featured at several restaurants, with dishes such as feijoada and tastings of local products.

Another highlight will be the Carde Museum, where journalists will take a guided tour and attend a press conference. They will also visit the Governor’s Palace, gaining insight into the destination’s heritage and institutional history.

Christmas celebrations will form part of the experience. In addition to the activities planned at Capivari Park, participants will attend the show O Melhor Presente (The Best Gift) at Campos Hall. The itinerary will also include an afternoon tea at Hotel Vila Inglesa, complete with a gift exchange and Christmas-themed decorations.

The program will conclude on November 30 with a transfer from Campos do Jordão to Guarulhos International Airport.

Through this initiative, WTJO aims to ensure that journalists do more than simply visit tourist attractions. They will also have the opportunity to meet the people behind the experiences, local businesses, and initiatives that contribute to the region’s identity. The initiative reflects an approach to Tourism Journalism that views press trips as opportunities to observe, investigate, engage in dialogue, and communicate the diversity of destinations.
