Consacá,Nariño, is celebrating a new milestone on its journey to becoming a sustainable and inclusive tourism destination. Thanks to its nomination in the Best Tourism Villages program by the World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism), the municipality received support from FONTUR’s communications team, which worked on highlighting and promoting its cultural, natural, and community-based attractions.
This international recognition celebrates villages that have successfully preserved their heritage, fostered local development, and promoted responsible tourism. In this context, the coordinated efforts between Consacá, its local community, and FONTUR focused on showcasing the municipality’s strengths: its historical legacy linked to Colombia’s independence, the biodiversity of its natural surroundings, and the commitment of its residents to authentic, respectful tourism.
With this nomination, Consacá not only reaffirms its potential as an emerging destination in Colombia but also sends a clear message about the importance of collaboration between institutions and local communities to strengthen tourism as a driver of development.
