Everything ready for the 2025 Festival del Cholado Candelareño: flavor, tradition, and joy in Valle del Cauca

On August 2nd and 3rd, the Parque Principal of Candelaria will be the epicenter of one of the most anticipated cultural and culinary events in southwestern Colombia: the  Festival del Cholado Candelareño. With more than 25 local entrepreneurs participating, the municipality is preparing to welcome locals and visitors with the best of this refreshing and iconic delicacy from Valle del Cauca.

Cholado is much more than a traditional drink—it's a symbol of regional identity. Its preparation blends shaved ice with tropical fruits such as mango, pineapple, papaya, banana, and strawberry, topped with syrup, condensed milk, colorful flavorings, and often cookies or bubble gum. It’s served in large cups or decorated glasses and offers an explosion of flavor, texture, and color that delights both locals and tourists.

During the festival, attendees will be able to enjoy a variety of styles and family recipes perfected by each vendor over the years, as well as take part in cultural activities, artistic showcases, and community gatherings that celebrate the joyful and welcoming spirit of the people of Candelaria.

The event not only highlights a culinary tradition deeply rooted in the region but also boosts the local economy, showcasing the dedication of dozens of families who have made cholado their life’s project.

The 2025  Festival del  Cholado Candelareño is an open invitation to share, cool off, savor the identity of Valle del Cauca, and enjoy a weekend full of flavor, music, and local pride.
