Granada to Host the 14th Tourism Leaders Forum, Where OMPT Will Celebrate Its 15th Anniversary
Granada, Spain, will host the 14th Tourism Leaders Forum, an international event organised by the World Organization of Tourism Journalism (Organización Mundial de Periodismo Turístico, OMPT). The forum will bring together industry leaders to discuss the challenges and emerging narratives of contemporary tourism.
The event will take place on 11 November 2026, at 18:00, in the Biblioteca de Andalucía, located at Calle Profesor Sainz Cantero, 6, 18002 Granada. It will also mark the 15th anniversary of OMPT. Founded in 2011, the organisation has been advancing the professional development of tourism journalism and creating spaces for training, research and cross-border gatherings across different countries.
The theme for this edition is “Storytelling and Neurotourism”. It will explore the role of stories, emotions and communication in shaping travel experiences and promoting destinations.
The forum will feature speakers Míriam Martínez (Spain), Miguel Ledhesma (Argentina) and Mauricio Reyes (Mexico). They will share insights on innovative tourism communication approaches and the transformation of the industry amid the digital era.
Granada was selected as the host city for its global standing as a heritage and cultural landmark. Its iconic site, the Alhambra, ranks among the world’s most visited monuments and exemplifies how cultural heritage can create memorable experiences.
This is a free on-site event. Admission is open to the public until the venue reaches full capacity.
At the forum, the World Organization of Tourism Journalism will celebrate 15 years of continuous work. It has fostered knowledge exchange, research, professional training and international networks to support ethical, responsible and innovative tourism communication.
With this new forum, OMPT reaffirms its commitment to creating spaces for reflection on the future of tourism, and the role of communicators, journalists, academics and practitioners in building more human-centred, sustainable and mindful destinations.
