Luis Polo Roa was inducted into the Travel Journalism Hall of Honor during the Open Passport Award

As part of the 11th edition of the International Open Passport Award, held on January 30 in Panama City, the World Travel Journalism Organization announced the induction of Luis Polo Roa into the Travel Journalism Hall of Honor, a distinction reserved for individuals whose careers have left a significant mark on the field of travel journalism.

The distinction was presented during the same event that brought together journalists, content creators, institutions, and projects from different countries, with a central focus on recognizing initiatives with social, cultural, and territorial impact. In this context, the induction into the Hall of Honor was highlighted as one of the most important institutional moments of the day.

The organization emphasized that the Travel Journalism Hall of Honor seeks to preserve the memory and legacy of professionals who have consistently contributed to elevating travel journalism, expanding its narrative boundaries and strengthening its role as a tool for development, identity, and social transformation.

Luis Polo Roa’s induction was based on his professional trajectory, his commitment to responsible tourism communication, and his contribution to the construction of perspectives that integrate culture, territory, and community. The recognition also underscored his influence on the training of new generations and his ability to build bridges between journalism, tourism, and society.

With this announcement, the World Travel Journalism Organization reinforced the historic significance of the 11th edition of the International Open Passport Award, a ceremony that not only celebrated the winners of each category but also highlighted the careers that have helped consolidate and project travel journalism at an international level.
