The World Organization of Travel Journalism (OMPT) enjoyed a special cultural night at Bar 545 in Buenos Aires, where organization members attended an evening event featuring traditional Argentine music and folk dance performances.

As part of OMPT’s ongoing activities in Buenos Aires, international travel journalists were invited to experience an authentic Argentine folklore show. This traditional cultural expression offers an in-depth look at the diverse identities and long-standing traditions that shape Argentina’s rich cultural heritage.

The night’s artistic performance was led by María Alejandrina Gutiérrez, a native of Catamarca and professionally trained folklore dance instructor based in Buenos Aires. Gutiérrez performs with the academy “Mujeres entre Luna y Valle”, bringing authentic Argentine cultural expressions and traditional folklore onto the stage.

The event also featured Sebastián Villafañe, originally from Catriel in Río Negro Province and a member of the “Mi Sangre Argentina” academy.

The cultural gathering allowed OMPT members to immerse themselves in a genuine local artistic experience in the heart of Buenos Aires. It once again proved that folklore serves as a powerful medium for understanding, preserving, and promoting Argentina’s diverse cultural identity.

For OMPT, cultural encounters of this kind represent an essential part of holistic travel journalism. Local culture, artistic expressions, and living traditions are fundamental elements when telling authentic stories of destinations and their communities.
