On the occasion of World Tourism Day, dedicated in 2025 to the sustainable transformation of the sector, the Moving The Planet Foundation released the first episode of its new video podcast, Moving Voices. The recording took place on September 26 at the Lago Martiánez Complex in Puerto de la Cruz (Tenerife), in collaboration with the Tourism Department of the City Council.
The episode, premiered on November 24 on Moving The Planet’s YouTube channel, marks the beginning of a series of interviews that will continue to be published weekly. In this first edition, the mayor of Puerto de la Cruz, Leopoldo José Afonso Hernández, addresses topics such as the shift in the tourism model after the pandemic and the issue of wastewater discharges, linked to the water emergency currently affecting the island.
The upcoming conversations will explore issues such as protests against overtourism, the push for zero-kilometer food sourcing, the renovation and reuse of hotel infrastructure, and the level of environmental commitment within the tourism business sector. Guests include Tourism Councillor Desiré Díaz Torres, Christoph Kiessling (Loro Parque Group), Sebastian Leber (Hotel Silken Saaj Maar), and Juan José Hernández Melián (CIT Puerto de la Cruz).
