Tourism in San Luis Potosí is undergoing a stage of reconfiguration following the COVID-19 pandemic. Beyond the recovery of visitor numbers, the state faces the challenge of understanding a new tourism demand shaped by more informed, digital-savvy travelers who are sensitive to safety, interested in authentic experiences, and increasingly drawn to nature, culture, wellness, and adventure tourism.
The study “Analysis of post-pandemic tourism demand in San Luis Potosí” examines, from a technical-scientific perspective, current tourism behavior in the state, considering indicators such as hotel occupancy, economic recovery, market segments, regional attractions, and tourism consumption trends. The research highlights that San Luis Potosí holds a strategic position due to its territorial diversity, integrating the natural richness of the Huasteca Potosina, the historical and cultural value of the capital, the mysticism of the Altiplano, and the emerging potential of the Media region.
The new tourism demand should not be understood merely as a return to pre-pandemic levels, but as an opportunity to build a more competitive, sustainable, and resilient model. Today’s visitors seek experiences with local identity, quality services, clear information, safety, connectivity, and more responsible engagement with communities and the natural environment.
San Luis Potosí is emerging as a destination with strong potential to consolidate itself in the post-pandemic tourism landscape, provided it can transform recovery into a long-term strategy. The challenge lies not only in attracting more visitors, but in generating higher-value tourism demand, better distributed across the territory, and aligned with the conservation of the state’s natural and cultural heritage.
