The WTJO announces the first three nominees for the 11th edition of the Open Passport Award in Ipiales

As part of the activities held in Ipiales, the World Travel Journalism Organization (WTJO) announced the first three nominees for the 11th edition of the Open Passport Award, an international recognition granted to individuals, institutions, and destinations that contribute to the strengthening of tourism with a positive impact.

The announced nominees are:


Department of Nariño:recognized for its cultural, natural, and community-based richness, Nariño has developed a promotional strategy that integrates sustainable tourism, local identity, and hospitality. Its diversity of landscapes and experiences positions it as a leading destination in southern Colombia.


Las Lajas Travel Agency:since 2021, it has been promoting rural, cultural, and community-based tourism in the region. It offers unique experiences around the Las Lajas Sanctuary and complements its offer with routes such as the craft beer tour in Ipiales, pre-Columbian handicraft workshops, and visits to chacras.  


Hotel Nogal Suites:an entrepreneurial initiative known for its hospitality and quality services in Ipiales and Pasto, contributing to the strengthening of the local tourism offer and the creation of positive experiences for visitors.  


The 11th edition of the Open Passport Award will take place in Panama during the first week of February 2026, bringing together travel journalists, tourism professionals, and representatives from various countries to celebrate those who make tourism a tool for cultural, social, and economic development.
