The ceremony, held in a festive atmosphere with deep cultural significance, brought together government authorities, journalists, representatives of civil society, and, in particular, young quinceañeras from the region, who were the protagonists of the event and signed the founding charter of the new commemorative day.

The declaration establishes that, starting this year, World QuinceaƱera Day will be celebrated every first Sunday of December, with the purpose of recognizing, preserving, and promoting the tradition of the quinceaƱera as a symbolic, identity-forming, and socially significant practice deeply rooted in Latin American communities.

During the event, it was emphasized that this date aims not only to honor the quinceaƱeras’ experience but also to highlight the cultural diversity that each country, community, and family brings to this rite of passage. Likewise, the WTJO underlined the importance of the cultural and tourism sectors associated with this celebration, which stimulate creativity, local economy, and multiple forms of artistic expression.Ā

The day included welcome speeches from local authorities, a public reading of the charter, participation by national and international media, and a symbolic closing in which the young women present placed their signatures as a gesture of commitment and representation of thousands of quinceaƱeras around the world.

With this declaration, Tepeapulco becomes the historic birthplace of World Quinceañera Day, a milestone that promises to grow year after year through activities, gatherings, festivals, and initiatives that strengthen the cultural value of this emblematic tradition.
