On April 3rd, the General Madariaga Municipality will sign an agreement to promote and develop the Macedo Area, a location with great tourism potential. This agreement, to be formalized with the World Travel Journalism Organization (WTJO), aims to declare the area as an Emerging Destination, which will increase its visibility in national and international media outlets.
Mayor Esteban Santoro, along with the Secretary of Tourism, Culture, and Education, Karina Uribe, and the director of tourism, Juan Ignacio Odriosola, welcomed María Ulivi, the argentine director of the WTJO, who visited the city with Carlos Corda, president of the Villa Gesell Hotel and Gastronomic Business Chamber. During the meeting, strategies for promoting Madariaga and the role of travel journalism in spreading the word about emerging destinations were discussed.
Additionally, efforts will be made to have Madariaga host WTJO events in 2026, a gathering that will bring together specialized journalists from around the world. This initiative will help position the city on the international tourism stage, highlighting its natural, cultural and gastronomic wealth.
General Madariaga is located in the province of Buenos Aires, just a few kilometers from the Atlantic coast and near other tourist destinations such as Pinamar and Villa Gesell. Known as the “Gaucho City,” it stands out for its traditions, rodeo festivals, and natural surroundings, which combine lakes, fields, and ranches. The Macedo Area, in particular, is a region with significant scenic and historical value, perfect for those seeking tranquility and a connection to nature.
