The WTJO celebrated Its 15,000th student in Consacá, Colombia

The World Travel Journalism Organization (WTJO) reached a historic milestone by recognizing its 15,000th student during an emotional event in the municipality of Consacá, Nariño. The recognition was presented by the WTJO’s founding president, Miguel Ledhesma, together with the mayor of Consacá, Weykman Alexey Jojoa Parra, to Honduran journalist Manuel Menjívar, who received the distinction on behalf of the thousands of professionals who have been trained by this organization over the past fourteen years.
Since its creation, the WTJO has carried out an extensive academic offering aimed at training and professionalizing communicators and tourism stakeholders in Ibero-America and worldwide. Among the most notable courses it has taught are:
Travel Journalism
Travel Writing
Crisis Management
Content Creation
Storytelling
Leadership
Copywriting
Content Marketing
Each of these programs has contributed to the development of an international community of travel journalists that now spans more than 40 countries.
During the celebration, Miguel Ledhesma highlighted the importance of this new achievement:
“Reaching the 15,000th student confirms that our work has left a mark on thousands of professionals, and doing so in Consacá, alongside its mayor, has symbolic value because we continue to bet on education as an engine of social and cultural transformation.”
For his part, Mayor Weykman Alexey Jojoa Parra congratulated the WTJO for its commitment to training:
“For Consacá, it is an honor to be the setting for this international recognition. Education and tourism are fundamental allies for the development of our territories.”
With this achievement, the WTJO reaffirms its leadership as a benchmark in the training of travel journalists worldwide, consolidating over a decade of work, innovation, and commitment to communication and sustainable tourism.
